Part I: Tuition Fees and Facilities IMPACT OF TUITION CHANGES It’s a fact that the child care programs are costly and their expenses increase day by day especially in infant and toddler care programs. It’s a fact that sometime annual cost of day care center exceeds the annual cost of college fee. In 2016, the average annual cost for an infant in center-based care was higher than a year’s tuition and fees at a four-year public college in 28 states and the District of Columbia. Sunny Skies Day Care Center revised its tuition fees of all programs (toddler, pre-school and pre-K) for the next year which will impact both the programs and families it serves. The increase in tuition fees can create burden to the parents and make them reluctant towards such programs whereas program may suffer as well. The high price might be difficult for those families living at or below the poverty level. When parents found that fee of such programs are high in this day care center, they might be switched to other unlicensed day care programs with low quality and less facilities which will create direct impact on development and learning process of children because no one wants to pay more for the thing they have been getting for less. Change in tuition fees can positively impact as well. It will help Sunny skies day care center to provide better quality. The increase in tuition fee let day care center to provide more perks and benefits to their employees so that they stay motivated as it is one of the major factor for quality enhancement because children are under their supervision and mostly interact with them so their satisfaction should be priority for every day care center. This change in tuition fees can remain in favor for both day care center and families if the causes and effects of change in tuition fees are communicated properly beforehand to the families. In a report it is mentioned that many of child day care center employee live in poverty because of insufficient salary packages. Last year, the median hourly wage for child care workers in the U.S. was $10.18, making wages of child care employees as compare to fast food chefs. They are receiving probably less work-based benefits like health care and many have difficulty making ends meet. Many have not enough money to afford child care for their own families. Keeping in view this scenario Sunny skies day care center decided to increase tuition fees to pay their employee more with benefits they deserve. Secondly, for providing sufficient quality to families require huge amount of money in order to satisfy both employees and families so this money will allocate in this cause. It is not easy to operate a licensed day care center. Although high tuition fee can get out of reach
