The typical post-surgery treatment is done with chemotherapy. There is a certain risk level associated with chemotherapy due to the desctructive nature of the drugs. Due to this it is important to minimize the amount of chemotherapy the patient is exposed to. Certain treatments, such as magnetic hyperthermia, used in conjunction with chemotherapy can help to increase the effectiveness of chemotherapy, and in turn reduce the amount of exposure to the drugs. Magnetic hyperthermia is a form of hyperthermia therapy that uses the heat produced by an alternating magnetic field to increase the blood flow to an area of the body. Currently, magnetic nanoparticles are injected to a specific effected area, and then the patient is subjected to a alternating magnetic field.
