I work in the MICU at Aultman hospital. I’ve been there for a year and a half, when I started working on that unit it was well into the opioid epidemic. We deal with this epidemic frequently in the worst ways you can imagine. When we have an overdose admitted on our floor we do not give them any of their belongings in case they have drugs hidden. We also take their cell phone so there is no way they can ask someone to bring drugs into the hospital, it is hard to believe, but it does happens more frequently than one would realize.
