May. 24 th Part 1 10%GROWTH—ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IS HUMAN DEVELOPMENT. Primary obstacle is politics. Rule of law needs bureaucracy. Law is legitimate violence. Put into context. Charles Babbage: Inventor of the first Computer. If you want to make the division of labor effective, replace the unskilled worker with machines. Andrew Ure: Unskilled worker is lowly paid and can be easily replaced. Unskilled workers are the problem. Replaced skilled workers with machines. Taylor: American Management. Divide and try to mechanize or replace the worker with the machine. Henry Ford: Growth of technology. Ultimate assembly line was the humans only have to use their elbows. Avoid manufacturing on Monday because the workers come in drunk and avoid Fridays because the workers are planning to get drunk on the weekend. What happened to the American automobile industry? Replaced by the Japanese because it was cost effective. The greatest waste came from large inventory as they are defective parts also.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
