Charles Babbage: Inventor of the first Computer. If you want to make the division of labor effective, replace the unskilled worker with machines. Andrew Ure: Unskilled worker is lowly paid and can be easily replaced. Unskilled workers are the problem. Replaced skilled workers with machines. Taylor: American Management. Divide and try to mechanize or replace the worker with the machine. Henry Ford: Growth of technology. Ultimate assembly line was the humans only have to use their elbows. Avoid manufacturing on Monday because the workers come in drunk and avoid Fridays because the workers are planning to get drunk on the weekend. What happened to the American automobile industry? Replaced by the Japanese because it was cost effective. The greatest waste came from large inventory as they are defective parts also.
