Identify and describe the three main sections of the HITECH Act that have affected patient's privacy and security. The HITECH section of the Stimulus Act was designed to encourage health providers to adopt EHRs, achieve meaningful use of EHRs, and support the exchange of health information [ CITATION Nel18 \l 1033 ]. After reading the chapters in our class textbook I believe that supporting the exchange of health information and Meaningful Use of EHRs are both sections that directly impacts the patient’s privacy andsecurity. Health Information Technology Policy Committee and Health IT Standards Committee both wereestablished to create uniform standards for the electronic exchange of health information [ CITATION Nel18 \l 1033 ]. The Health Information Technology Policy Committee utilizes privacy and security experts as stakeholders who ultimately create policies defining meaningful use of certified EHR systems[ CITATION Nel18 \l 1033 ]. Healthcare providers must access and exchange patient information with meaningful use and they need to maintain integrity with all use of the EHR. These strategic plans require healthcare providers to use security methods to ensure appropriate authorization and electronic authentication of health information [ CITATION Nel18 \l 1033 ].
