Discuss the opportunities and challenges for nursing in using computers in their professional practice. Nurses utilize computers in many ways with their work every day. Using a computer to access an EHR is a frequent tool that is used by most nurses and healthcare providers for that manner. However, nurses rely on computers for a number of other reasons. Computers give the nurse access to endless educational resources, there are also computer programs and software that nursing utilizes as an educational tool. The health professions provide the knowledge and wisdom to use computer and information science effectively in delivering healthcare and improving the health of all people [ CITATION Nel18 \l 1033 ]. I think an evolving challenge for nursing in using computers in their professional practice is that they rely on them sometimes too much and unplanned downtime can cause confusion and chaos to nursing. When our charting system crashes or goes down we are required to paper chart, paper charting is not time efficient and is more difficult to trend. References Nelson, R., & Staggers, N. (2018).
