Unformatted text preview: Engineering Design Part 1 Air Pollution: I chose this problem because I find it very interesting, and also it is one of the biggest and essential problems nowadays. Air pollution is what makes global warming, which puts in danger our planet and essentially our lives. Therefore, it is very important to find a solution to resolve the problem of air pollution, in order to prevent further global warming expansion. Part 1 Source: 1 In the article, they bring up a few solutions for reducing air pollution. The major solution is to reduce home air pollution by increasing ventilation, using radon gas instead natural gas, using air purifiers, running kitchen and bathroom exhaust fans, and also trying to avoid smoking. Thanks to this article, I learned that approximately 3 billion people are under health threat because of such indoor smoke which comes from cooking and/or heating of a house. One of the major criteria is carbon monoxide which comes from automobile emissions, fires, and industrial processes, and it contributes to the formation of smog. Also, carbon monoxide may cause symptoms of heart disease or even vision problems. From reading this article, I found out that ozone is also a gaseous pollutant. Source Cited: Nathanson, Jerry A. One of these ways is to buy food in a local place, thus cutting down on the fossil fuels burned in trucking or flying food in from across the country. Thanks to the article, I learned that smog, an air pollutant, can irritate the eyes and throat, and damage the lungs. Source Cited: Mackenzie, Jillian. "Air Pollution: Everything You Need to Know." One of them is to produce clean energy and reduce consumption of energy. Thanks to the article I reviewed, I was again reminded that air pollution has a huge impact on the process of plant evolution by preventing photosynthesis. Source Cited: Impulse, Solar.
