Stephenie Lai March 1, 2011 SOCI 3100 Grant Ethical Issue: Fast Food America is known to be a nation of grandeur. Even in our food industry, we indulge and “supersize” to our own satisfaction, without regards to our health and well-being or to the health of others around us. Money is what makes our world go around. To satisfy our needs in this culture, we are willing to pay less for lower quality food to stretch a dollar. We even eat larger portions of unhealthy food because it is cheap. Now as obesity is becoming a larger issue in the United States, the fast food industry has begun to change their ways. One of the first steps the industry has taken to rectify this problem is posting information about fat, calories, sodium, and other nutritional content of all items on the menu. This information must be posted somewhere visible to the public. In our group discussion, we decided that this was a good idea. If anything, it does not harm anyone to do this. It is a good way to educate people on what they are actually consuming. This is also information that could be
