Unformatted text preview: Group4 Review thermodynamics: 4 Laws of Thermodynamics: Zeroth Law- defines the concepts of thermal equilibrium and temperature 1St Law- Conservation of energy (with heat) 2"Id Law- the entropy in the universe always increases in the long run entropy— a measure of the disorder in a system log + fire ® heat + ash order xl/ disorder The universe is more disordered even though you create a little bit of order. You still create more disorder. (ex: making a house of cards) The more ordered a system is, the more disorder you introduce in the environment. There is also a way to produce disorder , but y0u have to produce a lot of energy (from outside) \l/ order H 9 He=> heat + "nuclear ash” Heat is a byproduct for putting order into the disorder. Bottom line of 2"“I Law- the sun can also die. The inevitable- everything will go back to its lowest energy state. 3” Law- Can’t reach absolute zero in a finite number of steps Absolute zero— state of zero atomic and molecular motion Ch. 8: (Transition from Classical to Modern Physics) Classical physics 1. Newtonian mechanics 2. Electromagnetic theory 3. Thermodynamics 4. Theory of turbulence Maxwell’s equations give you a prescription for how electric and magnetic fields produce each other ...

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
