The newly created cells replace the epidermis 2. In asexual reproduction, the new cell is genetically identical to one another and to their parent. 3. Cell division is responsible for the growth because it is the only way to create more identical cells. The more identical cells, the more it grows. 1. During mitosis, the chromosomes first become visible. Then as the process goes on, two separate sister chromatids are formed.

Unformatted text preview: 2. It is not accurate because this is the stage during which a cell carries out its metabolic processes and performs its functions. Interphase also includes cellular functions leading up to cell division. 3. The stage of the cell cycle when the cell is actually dividing is called the mitotic phase. The mitotic phase includes mitosis and cytokinesis. Mitosis is when the nucleus and the duplicated chromosomes divide and are evenly distributed, forming two daughter nuclei.
