Labor Economics Assignment 3 May 3, 2010 Men at the age if 25 – 54 labor participation starts to decline as the years go by, almost as they are diminishing from the labor force. Where women between the ages of 25- 54 in the labor force seems to be stabilizing and I think women are more responsible workers at that age range. Older workers between the ages of 55-64 in the labor force is working just for there retirement and if this section of the labor force was face with an increase of 20 to 25 percent in tax in there wages there is a possibility that older workers at the age of 55-64 will most likely take and early retirement because they will not be able to afford it. The labor market has been difficult for older workers to go into retirement. Older workers in which they want to retire suggests that the substitution effect dominate the workers decision on retiring from the labor force, which would fall into this case because the worker is push to pay a tax that they cant afford. The labor force is elasticity for women is higher
