Antennas roles in the transmission of radio waves is to send and receive them. The most typical antenna for a LAN is an Omni directional one or in another term a dipole antenna. This type of antenna is used because it broadcasts in every direction so if you were in an office building you could provide several floors with the LAN so you would get much better use of your network.
