12:56 Sexuality and Identity     Sex and Gender Roles     Set of norms governing behaviors in a given culture due to: o A belief that sex difference should lead to a difference in social behaviors  (dress, profession, etc) Ex:      “pink is feminine and meant for girls” “dolls (Barbie) are for girls  and action figures (GI Joes) are for boys” Drag is a performance of a performance (gender is a performance),  observe a binary by dressing as sexual opposite o A belief in binary sexual difference Ex:      “males are stronger,” “males are protectors,” “males are  unemotional,” “males are violent” Sexuality =      Sexual Scripts (noun)      – a set of rules and norms regulating sexual behaviors  in a given culture. Closely related to sex AND gender roles. (women don’t like  or want sexual pleasure as much as men)
