Derek Hull TER #13 “Internet Censorship” 04/20/2010 EDT 190 Section A TER #13 The final TER is on the topic of Internet Censorship. I think that this has its plusses and minuses. It is a necessity, I think, in schools but I would say that the censorship is taken too far in some schools. Censorship is important in protecting students from things that they could stumble across on the Internet. There are sites out there that are not appropriate for any student to see and it would be horrible for a student to just stumble upon them. Censorship is good in that it protects a student from seeing something questionable when he or she is honestly trying to find information for a project. An unintended byproduct of this censorship is that it could theoretically reduce the amount of sites that will result in a search for certain topics and thus help to lessen the time that the student spends searching for information. Some sites would be detrimental to some courses of studies.
