Unformatted text preview: Fébfu 15,é011 Survey Project: Part One My Question: How old were you when you first got your driving license? Data: Group#1 -> Latinos: 15.5,16,16, 17,17,18,18,18, 19, 21 Mean: 17.5 " SD:1.64 Group#2 9 Caucasians: 16, 17, 17, 17, 17, 17, 18, 18, 18, 20 Mean: 17.5 . SD:1.07 Comparing the Groups: . . . What I found from surveying these groups was that there is not much comparison between the ages people begin to drive and their race. Everyone’s answer was between ~ I 15-21 years old, and it didn’t matter if they were Latino/a or White. I have always wondered about this because I have wanted to drive since I was really young, as soon as I turned 16 I began taking drivers ed to be able to drive, but my parents didn’t allow me to ‘ complete the process until I was 18, so as soon as my birthday hit I went out to get my license and have beenexcited ever since! I think it just'depends of personal experience and the resources that one has. The average age for both sets of data was the same ' number, 17.5, so this proves that it doesn’t matter what race you ask the average age of when people in the U.'S start driving will probably be between 17 and 18 years old. This is also most likely because the law says you have to be at least 15.5 years of age before you can begin to work towards your license. Validity: of My Survey: I believe that the same numbers and type of data would be found for more general populations, it would probably be around these numbers for all populations in this country. I also believe that the people who answered the question did tell the truth because there isn’t much reason to lie about this, this isn’t something to be embarrassed . about and most people seemed to answer truthfully without thinking too much about it. There also wasn’t any other way to frame my question, it was straight to the point and the results seem to be good. I wouldn’t mind if you posted this report on Ilearn or if you chose to publish it as an example of student work. ...
