SCI 240: Science Concepts in Biology II Spring 2011 Course Syllabus Section 01: Monday 9:35-10:50 (T-P 3) Section 02: Monday 11:10-12:25 (T-P 3) Instructor: Tatiane Russo-Tait Office Hours: Mondays 1:30-2:30 PM at T-P 2B E-mail: Course Description: The science supplemental instruction (SCI SI) courses are designed to provide focused, high- quality interactive learning situations that reinforce students’ understanding of material presented in the associated primary science courses. The goal of SCI 240 is to provide a stimulating environment with time for student discussion, short lectures on primary course topics, questions, and supplementary materials that that enable students to master complex systems and concepts presented in BIOL 240, learn to communicate ideas in biology succinctly, and learn to inquire/pose questions about the material. Course Requirements: Students are expected to regularly attend the primary lecture session of BIOL 240 and bring class notes and questions from lecture to SCI 240. Each class period will begin with time to address student questions and concerns raised in the previous week’s assigned reflection papers. The
