Click on New Click on the Recipe tab. Enter the recipes given to you. Be sure you use the units given. You may omit the pre and post instructions. Just enter the quantity, unit and ingredient. The ingredient name MUST BE EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE NAME YOU USED WHEN YOU PURCHASED IT. The unit must be the same as the conversion unit. As you type in the ingredient name, a drop down list will appear. Selecting from this list will ensure accuracy in item names.

This item is chicken breast flt marn. As “chi” typed in, the drop down takes you to the selection. The little box to the side means it is an item in stock, something you have purchased. Looking for the boxes speeds up data entry. When you see your item in the drop down list, click on it.

Unformatted text preview: To add another item hit enter. Be sure to enter number of portions as 1. Enter your recipe. Click on the Cost Tab. Your screen should look like the one below. Enter the menu price given for your recipe. Entering the menu price allows the software to calculate the food cost percentage and contribution margin. If you have error messages such as in the example below, your conversion factors and recipe units are the most likely problem. Make sure they are the same. When your recipes are correct, go to the tip menu bar, select print, print recipe cost. Give to the instructor. The objective of the recipe lesson is to demonstrate the ability of the software to show managers how costs fluctuate as purchase price fluctuates. It also allows managers to do if/then pricing....
