1.0 Introduction Communication is the most important in human beings daily lives. Humans and even animals use to communicate with each other round the clock, because no one could survive without communicating. Communication is a two way street where two or more people construct new meanings together that includes vocalization and gesticulation. There are variety of communication method it could be in the form of spoken (verbal), written, non – verbal and face- to-face languages this factors helps to complete the communication process (Alusine Kanu 2014). The word communication is derived from the Latin word which is “communicare” means to make or share (Wikipedia 2020). Communication is defined as, “a process of conveying information and understanding from one to another” or let’s put it simple it is an act that conveys meanings from an entity or group to another person through the use of mutual understanding of signs, symbols, and semiotic rules (Wikipedia 2020). Whereas the theory of communication attempts to explain the production of information, what are the methods used to convey the information, how does the meaning been neither created nor shared and how the information been transmitted (Graham Williamson 2014). Theory of communication is elaborated as theories that deals with technology that transmit information through written word or a computer between a person, people and machines, or machines to machines (Robert Coover 1984) Term of communication theory implies that the body of theories that constitute our understanding of the communication process (Littlejohn 1983 ) Theories represent various methods in which it observers to see their environment, and as Littlejohn claims, because theories are abstractions thus every theory is partial (Betteke van Ruler 2018) There are various functions of communication theory such as organising, focusing, clarity, observation, predictive, heuristic, control and change. This report will briefly discuss on five functions of communications theory. We have chosen organising, clarity, predictive, control and observation.

2.0 FUNCTIONS OF COMMUNICATION THEORY 2.1 Organising The function of communication theory assists us to organise and understand our communication experiences. We use theories to literally sort out a broad range of experiences into smaller classes while focusing on “common features” of communication situations (Infante, Rancer& Womack). Deborah Tannen, creator of You Just Don’t Understand: Women and Men in Conversations , contends that men and women talk in altogether various manner and for essentially various reasons. For sure these differences may not be applicable to all people. In some case, theories on sexual orientation communication assist us organize and comprehend the discussion of the various sexes in a more simplified context so we can understand general patterns of communication behavior.
