In March of 2007, I attended an event hosted by the Asian Student Union about Burmese refugee resettlement. Since the Asian Student Union hosted the event there was a rather liberal tone about the whole affair. As a whole the event was rather one sided because while it showed the effects and the many challenges the refugees have to face it did not fully explain the political reasoning behind the relocation. The main theme discussed was how the refugees where taken away from their homes and had to survive in small communities in the jungles. However, even with the supplemental material provided in the form of handouts there was still little background information, which I thought would be important. While the plight of the refugees should be told, I believe that the reason and other sides of the story should be explained so one can better emphasize with those affected by the relocation. The main portion of the event was a documentary. It discussed and illustrated the effects that the relocation has on the people of Burma. The number of refugees is
