Roosevelts New Deal program saw both successes and downfalls, like any government plan would. This plan came into play while American was facing the Great Depression and it helped somewhat, elevate that stress. For instance, the New Deal plan came to create the Federal Emergency Relief Act, to help the unemployed, as well as the Civilian Conservation Corps. However, the New Deal was criticized because it did not end the depression the country was facing. People felt that the inference of government weakened the overall American business, and that it was spending too much federal money. When President Franklin D. Roosevelt took office, America was still going through a Great Depression.
