Fluid Mechanics Problem 5 Find the horizontal component of the force exerted by the flowing water on 1 m width of the (shaded) outflow structure, which discharges via a 0.2 m diameter circular duct to the atmosphere. Hint: consider the control volume as indicated, and note that the pressure distribution is hydrostatic on the inlet while the pressure is zero on the outlet.
