Laboratory II: Scientific Investigation Informal Lab Report Sara Martinson Biology 115 - Lab Section 03 Part I – Scientific Method 1. Question #1: Is genetically modified corn safe to eat? Hypothesis: The consumption of genetically modified corn will not make you sick. Question #5: Do pesticides reduce crop damage by insects? Hypothesis: Corn treated with pesticides will have less damage resulting than corn not treated with pesticides. 2. Variables In #1: type of corn used, amount of sunlight allowed to plants, amount of water given, and form of genetic modification used Variables in #5: amount of sunlight allowed to the plants, amount of water given, the amount of pesticides used, type of insect used to test if pesticide works, type of soil the plant is in 3. Should endangered species be cloned to prevent their extinction? This question cannot be modified to be more suitable for scientific study because it doesn’t pose a question you could do an experiment with to test. This is more of an ethics question and also concerns the technology available to clone an animal.
