Verifying and Filling a Prescription The steps in verifying and filling a prescription might be different varying on the pharmacy. The technician takes the prescription to check the information in order to save time the pharmacist’s and patient, which avoids waste and time. One of the first steps in supplying medication to a patient is to obtain the genuine order. In numerous states physicians usually fax, email, or telephone in prescription, but a large amount of patients bring in their prescriptions to the pharmacy. Before filling the prescription certain information needs confirming which includes patients’ name (entire name), date, address and telephone, prescribers’ information, inscription, signa, DAW, amount of refills, signature of prescriber and DEA number of prescriber.
