The technique to be used is based on Chapter 6 of the textbook and the logical RDB design process discussed in class. You are to use Chen's entity-relationship model notation as described in Chapter 6 for your ERD. Specifically you are to use the crow's feet notation as shown in Figure 6-42 on page 217 and Figure 6-43 on page 218, and , in addition, include the attributes of each entity in ovals as shown in Figures 6-37 through 6-40 on pages 215 and 216. You may draw your ERD neatly by hand, or use drawing software such as Visio, PowerPoint, or even Word. Note that it is more important to have a good design than to use great drawing software! Part of this assignment must be in a Word file as usual, but your ERD may be in another file. If you draw your ERD by hand you may submit it on paper vs. your Dropbox provided you give it to the instructor by the end of class on the due date. Be sure to allow enough time to complete this assignment. It is not expected that the lab time provided in class will be all the time you need, so you should plan to spend additional time outside of the class time to work on this assignment. This assignment must be submitted to your Dropbox by the due date/time for consideration for any credit. Exceptions will only be provided for the conditions specified in the Syllabus. Late submissions will be evaluated by the instructor, but will receive a score of zero. Therefore, it is better to submit an incomplete assignment on time than a complete assignment late.
