STANDARDIZATION OF QUALITY TRAINING FRAMEWORKS WITHIN THE POLICE AND SECURITY SECTORS Introduction Security officers play a significant role in maintaining peace and security in the nation. As a result, they face delicate situations that require appropriate and immediate responses on a regular basis. They are involved in delicate decision-making situations that require adequate skills and expertise to handle (Ratcliffe, 2008). Whereas some of the decisions made by police and security officers might be correct, at times wrong decisions are made. There has been increased interactions globally. However, the lack of a quality training framework in the security sector poses a great security risk. Considering the complexity of the security sector, there is little margin for making errors. Therefore, there is the need for having a quality training framework within the police and security sector. National Auditing of Security The national auditing of security is a department that is responsible for licensing and setting the standards for security officers. It oversees the training of police and security officers in various fields and provides them with operating license once the officers are vetted. The national auditing department is also responsible for the approval of training standards that are offered to the police officers. When the training standards of a particular security unit is not up to a competent level, the department censures the training. The auditing department also promotes cooperation within the security department in general. All officers who are responsible for the maintenance of security are urged to maintain cooperation while tackling security dilemmas. Nature of work of police and security officers Police and security officers have been entitled to the duty of protecting life and property through enforcing law and order. Their work involves undertaking assignments that are received from their superiors. Generally, the security officers are involved in routine patrol, crime detection and investigation, conducting interrogations to crime suspects, conducting searches, providing escort services and regulation of movement of people among other duties. Security officers are involved in a complex task hence the need to have standard training in order to attain these objectives. There is hence the need to have a quality training framework for security officers in order to equip them with the necessary skills required to perform their roles efficiently.
