Prison Population 2 The first article I read was from the “Denver Rocky Mountain News” 1999 in Denver, Colorado and the name of the article was “ Prison Populations On The Rise Corrections Officials Report Record Numbers, Largely Because Fewer Paroles Are Granted.” In this article it was stated that one of the main causes for overcrowding prisons in Colorado was due to the fact that fewer paroles were being granted. The Capital Development Committee was informed that if the state prisons population rate kept rising at the rate they were at in June 1999, the result would be 2,000 additional inmates a year. The result of this information help the state move faster in building to new prisons to help with the overcrowding and increasing number of inmates. The second article I read was from the “St. Louis Post Dispatch” 1994 in St. Louis, Missouri and the name of the article was “Building More Prisons Won’t Solve Soaring Crime
