Group Persuasive Outline Team Aweome – Williams, Peters, Lockwood, and Wang Katherine Zhao “Cleaning up our campus” Specific Purpose: To persuade my audience that the lack of recycling and amount of waste on Purdue campus is unacceptable, and that our group has a solution to solve this problem. Thesis Statement: One of the largest problems on Purdue campus involves trash and recyclables, which can be solved with a higher number of waste receptacles and a raised awareness of the benefits of recycling. INTRODUCTION: I. Attention Getter - Band-Aids, beer cans, Solo cups, candy wrappers, and fast food wrappers are only a few of the waste products many of us witness on our way to and from class every day. How can we stop this horrible practice of simply casting away trash on the ground and leaving it there? Our group has the solution. II. Credibility Statement – As a Purdue student that walks to class every day and witnesses the amount of trash on the sidewalks and in the grass and after doing research on the effects of recycling and waste disposal, we are confident that we there is a problem on Purdue campus that we have a solution to. III. Relating to the Audience – I am confident that everyone in this room desires a cleaner campus and earth. This presentation relates to you in two ways, the results will have a positive effect on the appearance of our campus, and the results will only come about with campus-wide participation. IV.
