The Five Pillars of Islam It’s of benefit to understand what Islam holds as vital in order to understand its art and the culture of Islamic peoples. I have extracted and condensed this information from various online sources including various WikiPedia postings. I think this is an accurate collection and expression of facts but if anyone would like to suggest corrections I will be happy to consider and make them. -Jim The Shahadah This basic creed of Islam must be recited under an oath as the following statement: "I testify that there is none worthy of worship except God and I testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of God." This testament is the foundation for all other beliefs and practices in Islam. Muslims must repeat the shahadah in prayer. Non-Muslims converting to Islam must recite it; when they do in good faith, they become Muslim, which is held to be a one-way conversion from which a person cannot later revert or recant. Salah
