Unformatted text preview: It Takes More Than Money To Be Successful THE FORMS OF CAPITAL Capita Maintaining and keeping more money.. Constant process, Ways of thinking, ways of behaving. Structures in our mind that enable us how to act and how to behave. Deeply ingrained in us so we dont have to think about what we are doing. It is the correct way because it is how we have been doing it. Education system. Game that all of the students (habitus) interact with the educational system know how to act with each other. Competing with each other for grades for recognition. Garner specific rules that are embodied within our minds. No one needs to tell you how to come to class. So that every field has different rules. The rules are the results of who has accumulated capital. More capital tend to have the privilege of defining what the rules are. By presenting your knowledge. Using proper language. Having good manners. Objectify by words and objects; if you have a particular car, painting, something that represents status. External to the individual. Once you graduate, now you have a certificate. UCD grants you a form of acceptance In the economic world. cultural capital when youve gained knowledge from culture capital. Also where youve gotten your diploma from. Who you know matters. Name dropping matters, so and so, means you have some sort of status. Who you know in terms of the education system matters. Parents t ry to articulate which schools are best in the community. Which afterschool programs are the best. Parents having relationships with teachers at schools often helps students. Speak with Ebonics means you are not worthy. I have faith, left with a sense that they are going to make it one day. We care about them. Or seen as cheats and criminals. Why are the homeless on the train, streets, doing bad things, in the way. Working at a particular wage, there is a inherent conflict. Will not challenge the upper class. Will serve as a distraction when split up the working class and middle class so they will fight against each other. Homeless and poor used as strike breakers. Putting them into opposition with each other. Those at the top are left out and not challenged. Disuniting classes. Everyone is the middle class, the middle class are the interests of everyone. The wealthys interests are the interest of everyone makes inequality, makes the poor comfortable with not taxing rich people. Not just the rich peoples interest, everyones interest. Rich people will have more money to spend on us. What we do for the middle class we do for everybody. Everyone wants to be middle class. : accumulated labor in a materialized, embodied (incorporated) or immanent form, which when appropriated on a private, i.e. exclusive basis, by agents or groups of agents, enables them to appropriate social energy in the form of reified or living labor Inherited Maintaining and keeping more money.....
