Chapter 5: Behind the Scenes: Nuts and Bolts Paragraph 1 -Number of people required to put a news show together is numerous. Paragraph 2 -TelePrompTer helps the anchor look like he or she has memorized his/her script.   Paragraph 3 -Control Room: people who monitor and guide the program on the air Paragraph 4 -Producer: responsible for getting the broadcast on the air and makes key editorial  decisions. When story airs, its length, position in the program etc. -Producer works with director who is in charge of the technical phase of the broadcast  including calling all the shots and directing cameras, graphics, and remote pickups.  -Director decides the look and feel of a newscast. -Technicians follow director’s orders -Engineers do playbacks Paragraph 5 -Assistant director helps director by cuing, counting down taped segments where  necessary and keeping track of timing of individual stories and the newscast as a whole. -Decides if material is cut or added
