Makayla Csencsits CWV 101 June 19, 2020 Prof. Krise Benchmark - Ethical Dilemmas The world is full of many ethical dilemmas such as performance enhancers, abortion, euthanasia, and pornography. People deal with these dilemmas in personal way by going through their morals and understanding the consequences. Abortion in the Christian worldview is seen as a sin. The Christian worldview has core beliefs on abortion and offers ideas for resolutions, which will be evaluated and compared in this essay. Ethical Dilemma The scenario describes a woman named Susan who is pregnant with a baby with Down syndrome. Susan has a great career but also wants a family. She seeks some advice from Richard, an influential professor of evolutionary biology, who recommends she aborts her baby to end its life of suffering. What makes this scenario difficult for Susan to make an ethical decision is that there is a human life at stake. One option she could do would be to put the baby up for adoption, if she feels she cannot provide the baby with the quality of life deserved and stay in her career. Another option she could would be to carry the baby to term and provide her with a life of love and stay in her career. There are many working families who have children with special needs.
