Children impacted by bullying face many physical and emotional challenges that affect their daily lives. Children who are bullied are more likely to experience a decrease in academic achievement and miss, skip, or drop out of school. Students who experience bullying are twice as likely as non-bullied peers to experience negative health effects such as headaches and stomachaches (Gini & Pozzoli, 2013).Students who experience bullying are at increased risk for depression. Bullying can negatively impact children’s academic success, physical health, and cause depression.Children who experience bullying often struggle to keep up their academic success. One reason they may struggle is that children who are bullied often do not want to go to school. Research suggests that many children are absent from school each day due to bullying (Seager-Smith, 2012). Students who are absent from school may pretend to be sick so they can stay home. However, many other students truthfully experience unwanted symptoms. These children who do lie about feeling sick may want to stay home most likely due to fear of being bullied. Due to continued excessive absences, children may fall behind their peers academically. These students are typically six to nine months behind their peers (Mundy, Canterford, Kosola, 1
