James Turrell: The Art of Light and Space (Berkeley: University of California Press, 1990). In an exhaustive monograph, Adcock surveys artistic and professional work since his time at Pomona College. As is typical of work on the artist, especially before 2000, Adcock deals lightly with the spiritualism of the work; however, in his concluding chapter, entitled “The Art of Perception,” he attempts to define Turrell’s work in terms of its particular effects and its place in the art world.
