BADMINTON The following are illegal and result in stoppage of play: Shuttle touches body Shuttle is carried on the racquet (called a "carry") Touching net with body or racquet Receiving serve when partner was being served to Hitting shuttle more than once on a side(by self or self and partner) in a rally Contacting serve when racquet head is above the waist Contacting serve when racquet head is above the wrist Contacting shuttle while it is on the other side of the net Standing in the wrong service area on the serve Contacting shuttle anywhere on or off your side of the court (after the serve) The following are legal: Swinging and missing the shuttle (play continues) Shuttle hits net at any time Following through over the net with the racquet When your partner is serving, standing anywhere on the court Helping your partner know if a shuttle is going out by talking to him/her Serving from anywhere inside your service box Shuttle is considered "in" when: It lands anywhere on or inside a boundary line
