Unformatted text preview: POLITICAL SOCIOLOGY 290:01 Tuesday and Thursday 1:40 3:00 Lucy Stone Hall A142 Instructor: Jeff Wilhelms Email: jwilhelm@rci.rutgers.edu Office Hours: Tuesday and Thursday 12:15 1:15 at Dunkin Donuts in the Livingston Student Center COURSE DESCRIPTION Political sociology is concerned with the social causes and consequences of given power distributions within or between societies, and with the social and political conflicts that lead to changes in the allocation of power. ATTENDANCE There is an attendance sheet to sign for each class meeting. Unexcused absences: you may be absent for two classes without penalty, after which 2 points will be deducted from your final grade for each unexcused absence: the 3 rd unexcused absence results in a two-point deduction, the 4 th in another two points, and so on. Excused absences: go to the Rutgers Self-Reporting Absence Website at https://sims.rutgers.edu/ssra/ and indicate the date and reason for your absence. An email is automatically sent to me. I may ask for paperwork from the coach, doctor, etc. before an absence is considered excused.
