Unformatted text preview: 1 Automatic Fire Suppression Systems FPST 2243 Unit 3 Plan submittal requirements 9/28/11 A typical drawing 1 5-6 1 4-6 1 10-0 2 8-4 9/28/11 General requirements North should always be at the top or left side of the drawing. All lettering and numbers should be written so they can be read from the bottom or right hand side of the drawing. Pipes should be drawn as single lines and should be the darkest lines on the drawing. Walls and partitions should be double lines. These lines should not be as dark as the pipes, but should be darker than beams or joists. 9/28/11 9/28/11 General requirements Beams or joists should be drawn with very light lines. A center line is often used to represent beams. A dotted line is often used to represent joists. All lines, sprinklers, valves, etc. must be drawn using straight edges and templates. Floor plans are ordinarily drawn to a scale of 1 inch equals 8 feet. Pipe diameter is to be indicated on the top of a section of a pipe, with pipe length shown below the pipe. Do not use' or" to indicate feet and inches.
