Language Diffusion and Globalization The following is a list of terms presented in this section of the textbook.  If you have  read this section, then you have seen them in boldface, italics, or heavy green font.  These terms are listed below in their order of appearance in the book, but most are also  defined in the glossary.  The section quiz will assess your comprehension of these  terms by requiring you to answer up to 10 randomly-selected questions from a database  of many questions.  The questions will refer to the readings and illustrations in the  section reading.  You may receive more than one question relating to a specific term  and you probably not receive a question pertaining to every term.  The study questions  that follow are intended to help you prepare for the quiz. linguistic dominance language gap stateless languages official language loanwords pidgin language pidginization code switching creole language creolization lingua franca linguistic diversity endangered language extinct language language hotspot Linguistic Diversity Index (LDI) STUDY QUESTIONS How does time-space convergence contribute to the diffusion of language?
