Educational Standards I live in the state of Ohio, and from what I have learned today and have known previously, Ohio seems to have high standards regarding education. I cannot even attend an online college to receive my bachelor’s degree in elementary education; due to Ohio’s high standards. I plan on teaching elementary students, hopefully first or second grade and each of those grades the students are taught language arts. Ohio’s academic content standards in English language arts require many things. Regarding phonemic awareness, word recognition, and fluency standards, Ohio requires that “Students in the primary grades learn to recognize and decode printed words, developing the skills that are the foundations for independent reading. They discover the alphabetic principle (sound-symbol match) and learn to use it in figuring out new words. They build a stock of sight words that helps them to read quickly and accurately with comprehension” (Ohio Resource Center, 2011)

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

I cannot even describe how much Course Hero helped me this summer. It’s truly become something I can always rely on and help me. In the end, I was not only able to survive summer classes, but I was able to thrive thanks to Course Hero.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
