This quarter, I have had the opportunity to take an education studies class with a focus on secondary school teaching. The class has been very engaging, and it has really opened my eyes to Americas education system. I had no idea that the system was so complex and that there were so many controversial issues surrounding education. One topic that we went over and that I would like to inform you of is the role of identity in schooling. Schooling is a lot more than just homework and tests, especially secondary schooling. Because students spend so much of their time at school, it really shapes who they are and how they view themselves. In J. Raible and S.
