To write an autobiography is much more difficult than I imagined. If there is an essay or literary criticism to write, I’m the girl to go to. However, telling me to write about myself is much more demanding because while I know who I am, I have never been forced to explain myself to people who are essentially strangers. Of course, I will do my best to do so. Since this introduction is connected to the literature portfolio, I want to share my favorite piece of poetry and explain how it has influenced my life. The poem that never fails to amaze me is ee cummings’ “i carry your heart with me.” I believe everyone should read this because it is absolutely brilliant. To me, the poem is not only about finding a love that surpasses the boundaries of the universe, but also having the desire to live a life that is extraordinary and more than can possibly be imagined. It motivates me to be the best person I can be and as cheesy as it sounds, I try to live everyday to the fullest extent. English is my favorite subject, and writing is an enjoyable pastime. Literature is capable of describing even the most complex of emotions and painting the most vivid of pictures. I hope that one day, I can be an author whose novels people will read and remember for years. I know that I need to develop my skills further; it all starts with this writing portfolio....
