STA 309 Chapter 9 Homework Dr. Gemberling Fall 2009 1. From time to time, Congress has discussed removing the ”Star Spangled Banner” as our country’s national anthem and replacing it with another song. Two of these other songs are “America the Beautiful” and “God Bless America”. Each time this is brought up, there has been much debate on the matter, but no consensus has been reached. Below are results of a random survey of 200 individuals and what their preferences are for a song to replace the Star Spangled Banner. Is there evidence that there is a relationship between party affiliation and song preference? 70 30 40 60 a. Set up your hypotheses. b. Perform the Chi Square test and calculate the p-value.
