CHILDHOOD OBESITY 2 The topic I chose today for my Academic Research is on Childhood Obesity. I chose this topic so that I could learn more about it. Having 3 young children I want to make sure I keep them on the right track along with myself. I plan on limiting my topic selection by focusing on the cause and effects on obesity in America, such as the health problems and psychological problems. My specified claim, based on my research, Childhood Obesity is becoming an epidemic. “Childhood Obesity can also lead to poor self-esteem and depression.” I plan to argue about the fast food restaurants and the technology of computers in my paper upon how they are an epidemic and contributors to obesity in America. There was a time when chubby children were considered cute. We as human being thought maybe the baby fat would just shed. Childhood Obesity is a serious medical condition that not only affects children but adolescents too. Obesity can cause health problems just as well as psychological problems. Us as a society need to consider the physical and emotional problems of obesity in our nation. I believe that us as adults need to begin to understand how important it is to eat healthy and exercise. Me and my family has been working on eating healthy even though we aren’t over weighted or anything. I want to set a good example to my boys while they are young. My 3 year old is at 43 pounds now and my 2 year old is 30 pounds and my 5month old is 16 pounds. I told my fiancée that our kids weigh almost 100 pounds together. I think that my 3 year old is a little too big for his age but he is pretty tall though. What is Childhood Obesity? What is Childhood Obesity? The term Childhood Obesity means a child is a person between birth and puberty. What is Obese? The term Obese means to extremely fat: corpulent. CHILDHOOD OBESITY 3 in most all developed countries (Nicholls and Viner 952; Lobstein, T)” Lack of exercise is a major factor of Childhood Obesity. “Obesity is big rise in our nation that even the president wife Michelle Obama is taking a stand for it.” “Here are some ways parents can prevent childhood obesity in their kids; scheduling yearly well child visits, seat a good example; avoid food-related power struggles with your child, emphasizes the positive, and be patient.” (Mayo Clinic) Parents let improve the exercising and dieting habit in our home. “Preventing childhood obesity help protect your child health now and in the near future.” Learning how to control it “We as adults and parents it’s time start controlling our overrated eating habits, first by instilling these values in our children.” People it’s time we start by putting our health and families
