Thursday Aug. 25 Unit 1 Practice recognizing Arabic sounds and letters Discuss how to approach the videos while preparing at home Drill 4 p.16: Practice greetings and introductions "Ahlan wa Sahlan" Homework 1 1) Read "Preface to the Student" pp. vii-ix. 2) Read Unit One pp. 1-9. 3) Do Listening Exercise 1 online and listen to the pronunciation many times while you study the chart on p. 2. 4) Do Listening Exercise 2 online. 5) Read instructions p. 16 Friday Aug. 26 Unit 1 Drill 2: practice transliteration Practice greetings and introductions Homework 2 1) Read Unit 1 pp. 9-15, and 17. 2) Do Drill 1 online. 3) Study the transliteration charts on pp. 11-12 and practice producing the Arabic sounds. 4) Do Drill 3 online. 5) Listen to New Vocabulary online, study the new words, and come to class prepared to use them. Monday Aug. 29 Unit 2 Letter writing and recognition Watch video in Drill 17 Homework 3 1) Study pages 20-29 and do Listening Exercises 1-5 online. 2) Watch the videos on writing the letters ث ،ت ،ب ،ا and practice writing the letters in your book. 3) Do Drills 1 and 3 online. 4) Hand in Drill 2. 5) Listen to New Vocabulary online, study the new words pp. 41-42, and come to class prepared to use them. Tuesday Aug. 30 Unit 2 Dictation practice Drills 9, 11, 12 and 13 Vocabulary activation : Drill 14 Homework 4 1) Study pages 29-39, and do Listening Exercises 6-11 online. 2) Watch the videos on writing the letters و ،ي and the short vowels, and practice writing the letters in your book. 3) Do drills 6 and 7 online. 4) Hand in drills 4, 5, 8 and 10. 5) Prepare Drill 14 for class.
