Lecture 16 Topic: H,B BASICS ASSIGNMENT ASSIGNMENT 25 A current flows in the positive y direction of a thin wire conductor. If a magnetic field directed along the positive x direction is applied to the wire, obtain an expression for the magnetic force per unit length on the wire. The objective of the assignment of this lecture is to be familiar with postulates 1 and 2 of Magnetostatics. The goal is not the calculation of force and magnetic fields for all sorts of current geometries. This will come latter.
