Lecture 24 97.315 Basic E&M and Power Engineering Topic: Mag. Circuit ASSIGNMENT ASSIGNMENT 25 A ferromagnetic medium of large extent has a uniform flux density B = 2 T. If μ r = 175, find H inside: a) a disk shaped cavity with flat sides perpendicular to B , b) a long needle- shaped cavity with axis parallel to B .

Lecture 24 97.315 Basic E&M and Power Engineering Topic: Mag. Circuit ASSIGNMENT ASSIGNMENT 75 A permanent magnet has the structure shown below. The “heart” of the magnet is a cylinder of Alnico 5 alloy of square cross-section. The B-H curve of alnico 5 is shown below. Two square cylinders of “soft” iron guide the filed lines to a 2 mm air gap. The soft iron can be assumed to have a linear B-H curve with μ r =1000. To provide initial magnetization, the alnico 5 piece is wound with 100 turns of wire.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
