9/28/11 The Coca Cola Company has become more environmentally efficient The Coca Cola Company has begun efforts to become a more efficient company and to help become more environmentally friendly. The company now uses only products that are fully recyclable. “Coca-Cola’s cans and plastic bottles are fully recyclable, and many already contain recycled materials” (www.mnn.com ). Coca Cola has not just stopped at using recyclable products but has “invested in recycling plants, including the largest bottle-to-bottle recycling plant in the world”. ( www.mnn.com ). By reducing the HFC in their coolant systems, Coca Cola is turning more environmentally friendly and efficient. Water usage is also a large problem faced by the company. Water is the beverages main ingredient in all their products and the need to cut down on water waste is necessary. “Coca-Cola strives to treat and return 100 percent of its manufacturing water volume back to the environment.” (www.mnn.com ) The Company is striving to be more environmentally safe and efficient. The company’s beverages are consumed on a daily basis. In 2009, “421 million consumers consumed products throughout the US, Canada, the US Virgin Islands, Belgium, continental France, Great Britain, Luxembourg, Monaco, and the Netherlands.” ( Datamonitor). The vast numbers of consumers show strong support and corporate power in the industry. The industry also has a strong targeting method for each beverage.
