Racial Groups and Discrimination: Polish notice of their immigration to America; their journey was filled with difficulties and was far from uneventful. The most popular family story of the Polish migrants includes the history filled with many turbulent obstacles, from deep scarcity to major discrimination. The Polish were filled with motivation to immigrate to the United States. Their motivation thrived from the possible thought of having to live in a very scarce economic system which included three-fold harassment from the Austro-Hungarians, Germans, and Russians, the lack of jobs or even land on which to exist. The struggling Poles found it fate and chance to migrate to the United States of America. The Polish were part of the second biggest group of immigrants among the Central and Eastern European population, with approximately 3.4 million arriving in the United States between 1899 and 1924 (Bade & Weiner, 1997) The presumptive pressure this amount of immigrants may have been anticipated to have was mitigated by three major factors. The first was the fact that migration was part of a second wave of immigrants; the first wave, began in 1815, which incorporated mainly Northern and Western Europeans who were previously reasonably well established in society before the Polish migration began.
