Philosophy 110 Quiz One Review CHAPTER ONE REVIEW We used Chapter One as an introduction to the concept of Critical Thinking, doing so by  spending some time and energy to analyze some of the things that stand in the way of critical  thought.  First, the text points out some of the attributes of “critical thinkers”, encouraging  students to recognize the importance of concepts such as  clarity, precision, accuracy,  completeness , and  fairness  (pages 2-7) .   Then, we looked at some of the “Barriers to Critical Thinking” (pages 10-25).  Here, we focused  on  relativistic thinking  (for example,  cultural relativity ),  egocentrism,  and  sociocentrism . The question for the first chapter will be: Describe sociocentrism, including in your description a brief evaluation of  conformism  and group bias.  Then, describe how sociocentrism can be a barrier to critical thinking.  Be sure to use examples in your answer. (10 points) To answer this question for full credit, a student will need to define  sociocentrism, conformism and  group bias,  offering an example that demonstrates understanding of sociocentrism.  Then,  the student will need to explain how a sociocentric bias can be a barrier to critical thinking in
