Scarlett Hood 1/5/10 B2 “The New York Draft Riots” By Iver Bernstein 1) The topic of the book is over the New York City Draft Riots. Iver Bernstein wrote this book so that people might fully understand their significance for American society and politics in the age of the civil war. This book was written for all to learn and understand. 2) The author does state an explicit thesis. The thesis was to study the troubling crisis of the New York City Draft Riots in the Civil War. I believe that Bernstein was against the riots and how brutal they truly were, but felt they were necessary for America to rise. 3) This book portrays events that took place in America and they are in my course. 4) This book has historical accounts and quantitative data that assisted him in writing this book. It has quantitative data because of the historical dates and qualitative data because of the interpretations of newspaper articles and historians opinions.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
