You can’t just give information—you  need  a point. When you have a point  and  express it in your thesis statement, then you will have clear topics for  your paragraphs. A point could  be: a) We need  to study  malls because they reflect and  influence American culture in  terms of community, our values … b) I didn’t realize that malls were so interesting  before I studied  them. They re  interesting  because… c) Malls have a great effect on our lives in the following  areas… 2.  You are giving information—you  need  to give all  the information  you know   from the readings, not just the positives or negatives, or only a couple of  topics. 3.   Yes, you need  citations even if you don’t use the author’s exact words   (quotation). Using a citation e.g. (Farrell, 2009) shows where you found  the
